About River Mill Woods
Thank you for your interest in River Mill Woods. We are a family owned and operated business that began in 1988. The yearning to return to our home town of Marion, Kansas was realized when the opportunity to buy Daryl’s boyhood home became a reality in 2000. Our company’s name was derived from the old Ehrlich/Excelsior grist mill which still stands. The Cottonwood River once flowed within throwing distance of our home. The River has since been rerouted, and the mill is in major disrepair, but the stone and concrete structure has stood the test of time with which its builders created it. Similarly, River Mill Woods has weathered the many storms that all small businesses must endure in their early years. However, God and family has seen us through these past years and we have a growing optimism and excitement about our line of products.
We thought River Mill Woods was a fitting name for our business for several reasons: Daryl grew up hunting and stomping around in the woods surrounding the old river bed and mill and for 2 weeks each summer he was joined by the grandkids of Mr. Ehrlich when they were visiting from Chicago; we like water and the rerouted Cottonwood River is only a 1/4 of a mile away; Daryl could look out his bedroom window and see the old mill and now we can do so again; and woodworking requires wood. All of these components of the place and memories just seemed to fit our name.
With time we hope to restore the mill and fill it with Craftsman style furniture and hang framed pictures of the past history of the place and people thereby providing a link to that era and honoring the family that built and operated the mill.
If you would like to talk to us about our caskets, please give us a phone call. We prefer to visit with people the old fashioned way, by phone. We pay close attention to our answering machine, so if we should miss you, please leave a message. we will return your call.
Thank you for showing an interest in River Mill Woods.

I get all my framing done here!
Very nice customer service, they take their time to make sure you like what you're getting. Also, a lot of really nice pieces of furniture and pictures to look at! A little pricy but they do nice work.
I had Daryl custom build about 50' of shelving for my downstairs bar....everything from recommending the type of wood, to the finished product. His work is precise and extremely detailed. The shelves are the showcase of the bar area and I get lots of compliments from friends and family who visit. When I need any other custom work done in my home, Daryl will be the only one to do it!.
We've had over a dozen pieces of art framed at River Mill Woods over the past year, from vintage publications to original watercolors to graduation photos and everything in between, and we can't say enough about how pleased we are with the final products. Pat and Daryl are genuine artisans who utilize their creativity, experience, and professionalism to produce top-notch results. We trust them implicitly and look forward to further collaborations.
I was on a short time frame and they were able to help me with my needs and it came out much better then i could have ever imagined
Another great experience
We stumbled upon River Mill Woods a few year ago while looking for someone to do some framing for us, and now use them often for our framing needs. These have included family portraits, limited edition prints, and also some more unique framing requests. Two of the more unusual requests we had for Pat and Daryl were custom frames for stained glass windows; and, most recently, a display of a relative's WWII military ribbons and medals, complete with a photo of him in his uniform with the same ribbons and medals. In each case, we could tell that Pat and Daryl put a lot of thought into what they would do before actually assembling the project we've asked them to do. They always do a wonderful job of working with us to give us exactly what we want, to the point where I am comfortable saying, "I trust you on this, arrange it the way you think is best." Pat and Daryl serve their customers with excellence and thoughtfulness at a very reasonable price.
I have had River Mill Woods complete several framing jobs for me.They have an extensive selection of framing, matting, regular and conservation glass. Pat is very knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with.Their work is of the highest quality. I have been more than pleased with the framing they have done for me and I would not hesitate to recommend this friendly, efficient and well stocked frame shop.
